June was an appalling month of reading for me. Coming back to San Francisco from India and all the uncertainty around the immigration ban certainly took it out of me. Anyway here’s the very short list of the 3 books I managed to squeeze in (favorite in bold as always).
- The Jetsetters: I don’t know why I even pushed myself to finish this book, it was that bad. Even for a light beach read, you hope for the narrative to be somewhat coherent, but that wasn’t the case here.
- Pelosi: I don’t know the intricacies of American politics, so I went into this blind but the book was such a good primer on how things actually operate in the American government and how laws get passed. Some reviews I read claimed that the book was an ode to Nancy Pelosi herself, I didn’t necessarily think so.
- Dining In: Highly Cookable Recipes: I don’t know if this counts as a book per se; Alison Roman has been in the spotlight for all the wrong reasons and this book isn’t as good as Nothing Fancy (in my humble opinion). I love all her recipes with chickpeas though.
